Unlocking The Secrets Of Hypnosis

Categories: Self Improvement | January 4th, 2009 | by admin | no comments

The word, “Hypnosis” for most conjures up images of Svengali controlling one with a pendant or the movie–the Manchurian Candidate, or they remember a stage show where they saw a subject on stage quacking like a duck and not remembering anything after opening his/her eyes. All are images that leave one leery of hypnosis!

Even though the word, hypnosis, was not used at the time, Anton Mesmer in the 1700’s is credited with the first use of hypnosis. Most of Mesmer’s patients at that time in history suffered from “Hysteria.” He would have them stand in a tub of water with metal rods. As they held onto the rods, he’d wave his wand resulting in the patients experiencing a cathartic reaction during which their “hysteria” was cured.

Are You Balancing Your Life Or Simply Juggling All Your Responsibilities?

Categories: Self Improvement | January 3rd, 2009 | by admin | no comments

Almost every day coaching clients or friends tell me they’re juggling so many things in their lives right now that they can hardly keep up with them all.

No one ever tells me they’re “balancing” so many things in their lives that they find it hard to keep up.

That’s because there’s a big difference between “balancing” and “juggling.”

A couple of definitions in the American Heritage Dictionary for the word balance are: “mental steadiness or emotional stability; and - habit of calm behavior, judgment, etc.”

The same dictionary defines the word juggling as “having difficulty holding; balancing insecurely.”

With these definitions in mind, is it any wonder that people who balance the elements of their lives are calmer and more at-ease with themselves and the world around them than those who merely juggle everything?

Vertical Vs Horizontal Living

Categories: Self Improvement | December 28th, 2008 | by admin | no comments

Living vertically can save your life and serve you in many ways. Since fear causes stress, and stress causes dis-ease, I know this phenomenon has assisted me to be healthy and safe.

For example, when the tragedy of 9/11 occurred, I naturally reacted at first like most people with feelings of disbelief, fear, anger, powerlessness, and sadness. When I looked horizontally at what was going on in the world, it was terrifying!

However, I immediately went vertical. I went up to my higher-self (my spirit) for clarity, guidance, and action. I asked my spirit, “What can I do?” My intuition, the language of my spirit, supplied me with a positive action. I heard to imagine the pink light of love flowing into the top of my head, down to the center of my chest (the heart area), and to send it out unconditionally to the victims and persecutors.

Stress Relief - How Not To Get Worried Sick

Categories: Self Improvement | December 16th, 2008 | by admin | no comments

“You are what you think.” This statement and others like it can be found in the works of Shakespeare, Chekov, and Emerson, in the teachings of Lao-Tzu and Socrates, and even in the Bible. So, is there any current scientific proof or is this statement simply a wishful thought?

There is a great deal of evidence that shows that we really ARE what we think, in a genuine physiological fashion. The medical field of research is called Psychoneuroimmunology or PNI. It is the study of interactions between a person’s perception of the world around them, their behavior, the way their brain functions, and their immune system. The field of PNI studies the measurable interaction between psychological and physiological processes. The psychological portion is the Psycho aspect, the central nervous system aspect is the Neuro aspect, and the body’s defense against external infection and mutant cell division is the Immunology aspect. There is also an endocrine system portion of PNI involving the release of various hormones in coordination with the other three aspects.

Grace Reaches Down

Categories: Self Improvement | November 15th, 2008 | by admin | no comments

In an ever-growing desire to bring more light into a world that is actually composed of it, man has compromised itself by separating from the feelings that are inherent in a world of dualism and polarity. In so doing, the space for the use of grace is neglected and left untended. Due to this strategy, the human race has set itself upon the edge of denial - an edge that naturally leads to the integrity and authenticity of what feels real and is truly incorporated in experiencing life among each other.
