Hispanic Youth Motivational Speaker

Categories: Writing and Speaking | August 18th, 2009 | by admin | no comments

Youth, just like adults, need motivation to keep them focused towards greatness. The great thing about getting a young motivational speaker is that they will be from the outside and unfamiliar with the youth but know what they are going through. A motivational communicator can give the hard truth to a group of students without hurting feelings.

Some students will catch a vision of their own after hearing a college graduate. The intention of every motivational speaker is to inspire and wake up the very thing that makes every one great. You'll be surprised how many students make a decision in their minds and in their hearts to continue education after listening to a motivational speaker.

Fear of Public Speaking? Why Elocution Lessons Can Make a Difference to Confidence in Life

Categories: Writing and Speaking | August 11th, 2009 | by admin | no comments

Two school boys, both thirteen. One is confident, the other is a nervous chap. It's 1983 in a preparatory school in the Surrey countryside.

Both pupils have to give a religious reading to the rest of the school. The nervous one stumbles onto the stage and begins mumberling – he's such a wreck that he nervously tuts at the end of each line of the reading. He certainly isn't even speaking clearly. By the end of the passage his school peers begin to pick up on his nervous habit of tutting. He comes to the last line and reads: “This is the word of the Lord” and the rest of the pupils roll their eyes and tuts too. His fear of public speaking was so bad that for months ahead he woke up in the middle of the night sweating – this performance had just made his fears much worse.

Public Speaking – How to Read Your Speech With Confidence | ArticlesBase.com

Categories: Writing | July 21st, 2009 | by admin | no comments

Reading your speech makes it difficult to deliver your speech an interesting and confident way. You are tied to one spot by the speech and it is difficult to connect with the audience.

There are 4 circumstances when you may want to read your speech

1) Political speech – where each word and phrase is to be scrutinized.

2) Technical speech – difficult concepts are being explained and accuracy is important

3) A special event – a certain theme is being portrayed

4) Confidence – where the speaker does not feel confident enough to deliver it without a written speech.

Public speaking is about effectively conveying ideas to the audience. Reading a speech makes that difficult because it confines the ability to speak expressively. Some of the shortcomings caused by reading are;

Make it Move to Make it Memorable in Public Speaking

Categories: Writing and Speaking | July 18th, 2009 | by admin | no comments

While I cannot take credit for the title of this article, those words have haunted me since I discovered them a few months ago in which the writer was discussing animating your PowerPoint presentations, certainly good advice. I was fascinated by those words because movement in public speaking is vital if you want to keep the attention of your audience on you. What is fascinating about public speaking is that if you don't move, then your listeners will.

The question is: do you want your audience moving, checking their iPods, their watches, or even their email, or do you want their attention on you?

The answer is obvious: you want their attention on you.

What Zig Ziglar Does So V-E-R-Y Well

Categories: Writing and Speaking | July 5th, 2009 | by admin | no comments

One of the most colorful speakers on the public speaking circuit today is Zig Ziglar. The man uses his Southern drawl for great effect (and he knows it) and is the master of dragging out his words. He will 'lay' on the words; he will drawl them out; and he does it to perfection by means of duration.

Duration is the extension or continuance of sound in the articulation of a word.

The injured man dra-a-agged (dragged) his leg as he crawled out of the burning room.

By extending the word dragged, you place the attention on the leg and not the fact that he crawled or that the room was on fire. I could have just as easily extended the word crawled. However, beware that you don't use too much duration at a time or you will sound overly dramatic or like you are emoting. Again, don't overdo, be natural.

Here Are 3 Things Your Speech Can’t Do Without

Categories: Writing and Speaking | July 4th, 2009 | by admin | no comments

Remember Pareto's Principle? Where 80% of the results comes from 20% of your effort. Or 80% of your revenue generated by 20% of your customers. This principle works here in public speaking as well. If you are tight for time, and you want to know what you can do minimally to cause maximum results, this is it. The 20% work that will make a huge positive difference in your upcoming speech or presentation.

1. One Powerful Message

No point flooding your audience with too many messages as they won't remember all of them anyway. Instead, you will have a better chance of impacting them if you focus on just one message. Find various ways (stories, demonstrations, quotes, analogies, visuals, jokes, examples) to illustrate your message.

Comedy Copywriting?Funny or not, here I come

Categories: Writing | April 7th, 2009 | by admin | no comments

When writing humorous copy ask yourself these 3 questions.

I enjoy humor?reading it, watching it and writing it. Writing it is the hardest. But that doesn’t stop me from including it when writing copy. Comedy is an effective tool for delivering a powerful message and a common theme in the most memorable advertising campaigns.

When I first started freelance copywriting I used humor all the time. I’ve backed off since then. The most important goal in copywriting is to present your message clearly and persuasively. If humor helps, great. If not, forget it. So let’s consider a few questions to guide you in humor writing.

Do you think it’s funny?

Trashy or Sexy

Categories: Writing | March 3rd, 2009 | by admin | no comments

I am well aware of the fact that I wrote a post a few months ago about tattoos being sexy. Well I thought it might be fun to play a little game called trashy or sexy. What I’m referring to is people who have a lot of tattoos, do they look trashy or sexy to you. I for one will admit that some women I see that have half or most of their body covered in tattoos look trashy and there a just as many I see that I think look sexy. So one may wonder what makes your tattoos look trashy and what makes them look sexy.
