Self-Improvement – God’s Approval

Categories: Self Improvement | October 11th, 2011 | by admin | no comments

Man’s approval means nothing unless you already have God’s approval which means eternal life. Many times the temptation in life is to please people at the expense of pleasing God. George Washington said, “If, to please the people, we offer what we ourselves disapprove, how can we afterward defend our work? Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair.”

We need to raise the standard by lifting our eyes to Jesus. By asking the question, “What would Jesus want me to do?” or “What would Jesus do in this situation?” By so doing, we will more closely live the life God wants us to live. By pleasing God, we won’t always please our fellow man. But what is more important: pleasing the Creator of the universe who holds your life in His hands or some imperfect human being walking on God’s earth?

Categories: Self Improvement | October 9th, 2011 | by admin | no comments

I am an average Joe in many ways, but I draw a very quick and distinct line in the sand when it comes to issues of integrity.

Self-Improvement Sabotage – Learned Helplessness

Categories: Self Improvement | October 3rd, 2011 | by admin | no comments

Learned helplessness quite simply occurs when you have learned to believe that you are helpless in a particular situation. The end result is that you believe that no matter what you do the result is written in stone even though you may actually have the ability to change the outcome.

It is theorized that depression occurs when you perceive that you have no control over your life based in large part upon what has happened in the past.

It is my belief that mistakes and failures by definition are adjectives which describe past events. Therefore those of us who have chosen to grow and evolve into someone who is infinitely wiser than we once were, quite frankly, could care less about what happened in the past.
