A lot of people are simply too scared to take risks. Every now and then they get a great idea in their heads but then, in creeps that little voice that says “But what if…”. If you listen to it long enough, there is no way that you'll try out your idea and you'll always be wondering whether it could have worked. Does that sound familiar?
Well, let me tell you, life involves risks. It's a risk to get out of bed in the morning! You shouldn't be afraid of taking risks as life would be so very boring if we took no risks at all. Don't be afraid. Be daring. I love taking risks even though they don't always pay off. It's easier to try again than to sit back and say I never tried at all.
Of course, if you take a risk, there's always the chance of failure. This is why it is called risk. I guess, at the end of the day, there are different types of risk: skydiving without a parachute involves a different kind of risk to starting a new business. The former is just plain dumb but the latter can be calculated and planned. Starting a new business could fail but, if it succeeds, you could have great freedom, from your bosses as well as financial freedom. Is it worth taking the chance? I'll let you answer that.
Don't be afraid to take smart, calculated risks. These risks potentially have great benefits and are well worth taking. And, if you fail, consider it a lesson in life, brush it off and try again!
While you're out there deciding which risks to take, I have a great tool for you to get motivated and plan your day at the same day. It involves a diary and inspirational thoughts for the day and you'll be wanting to get up and go in no time at all. Go on, take a peak at the Get Up And Go 2010 Diary now – you have nothing to lose.
