On Seeking Health In Happiness
In his book, ‘The Ghostway,’ Tony Hillerman uses an old Navajo Indian
word - ‘Hozro’ - to reflect upon the inner peace of one’s being.
He presents his unique early American philosophy - couched in two
lovely laws of health;
1. The law of Cause and Effect - alternately known as;
- The law of Karma, or
- As ye sow, so shall ye reap, or
- What goes around, comes around
2. The law of Unity - everything is related and co-related - No thing exists on it’s own.
“Nothing happens without motive or effect…
the wings of the corn beetle affects;
the direction of the wind,
of the way the sand drifts,
of the way the light reflects
into the eyes of man -
beholding his reality.
All is part of totality -
and in this totality, man finds his ‘Hozro,’
his way of walking;
in harmony
with beauty
all around.”
And so it is with each of us.
For each and every action there is effect
and upon reflection of this
- we choose.
There is no better measure of health than in the reflection of
inner peace found at the end of the question - ‘Am I happy?’
And if you are unsure of your own answer to this simple question, may I suggest that
you do as I do during times of introspection - I go to the mirror and take a good look
at myself.
To all readers - we wish you the very best happiness in your health.
