Get Stress Relief Or Face The Side Effects Of Stress

Stress has become a daily part of life. It has become so integrated that many of us have come to expect stress, and in large doses. But the side effects of stress must be considered.

The best way to deal with stress is to first know what causes it, then what symptoms to look for so you can avoid – or at least minimize – the side effects of stress. Here I focus on the side effects but I’ll share a resource for the causes and symptoms after the end of the article.

You may already know the major effects that stress can have on your health. Effects such as diabetes, heart conditions, gastric problems, and high blood pressure are serious illnesses that need medical treatment.

But what are the less serious side effects of stress? Can they be managed?

Weight gain ranks very high on the list of side effects caused by stress. Your mind feels the need to candy-coat your stressors with pints of ice cream and numerous bags of chips. Your mouth wants to maintain a smooth but even pattern of eating; busying your hands and filling your stomach.

The destructive thought process is, “Eat to defeat stress.” It’s not until you stand on the scale that you realize you’ve got another problem. Now you may even generate more stress as you lament about your weight gain. Vicious cycle I urge you to avoid.

Taking control of weight gain involves a simple NEW thought process; “Good food produces a good mood.” Fill colorful bowls with fruits. Grab some crisp and crunchy vegetables. The main thing is to watch what you eat.

Also try to eat six small meals a day and drink plenty of water (8 to 10 8-oz glasses per day). Eat healthy food in moderate portions. Starving your body to lose weight will only increase your stress and cause even more side effects of stress.

Premature aging is also one of the side effects of stress. The tweaked emotions brought on by stress will eventually blanket your skin and soften your bones. One day you may look in the mirror and wonder, “How can I look so old when the calendar says I’m younger?”

You see more lines in your face and your muscles disappearing. Your body feels limp and your mind seems distorted. These are signs of aging inflicted by stress.

Are you ready for another one of my simple thought processes? “Be strong and live long.” It is possible to slow the aging process. If you eat right, exercise, drink plenty of water, sleep properly, meditate, and let yourself enjoy life you’ll add years to your life.

An increase in pain is definitely one of the side effects of stress. Have you noticed more body aches and pains? Not only is your immune system weakening but so are your bones and muscles. At times you may feel as though all of your strength is depleted. Stress is a terrible disease and will affect your body in many negative ways.

“Less pain, more gain” is my last simple thought process. If you can create healthier skeletal structures and leaner muscles, then this will relieve some of your stress. By taking care of your body you’ll take care of your pain. Relax, stretch, take vitamins, eat right, exercise, and the list does on. The point is . . . you can feel better.

I shared my simple thought processes to emphasize this: How and what your think about stress is also very important in effectively reducing it. You get what you expect. So please expect to be relaxed and expect to have your day go smoothly. This doesn’t guarantee perfection! But it seriously and dramatically helps you experience less stress.

There will always be numerous side effects of stress. You may not be able to combat them all but you can bury some of them simply by taking care of your body and what you “think” about stress.
